The professional title that is acquired is Master of Mathematics – teaching education.
Study rules
The study lasts two academic years (ie four semesters) and carries 120 ECTS credits. Candidates for admission to this study program must have completed the first cycle of a related study.
The teaching process is organized through lectures, classroom, and laboratory exercises. Before the beginning of the first semester, students opt for one of two groups of four elective subjects each (mathematics major or mathematics and informatics major) entirely in accordance with the expressed interest of the student. The Council of the Department of Mathematics may, if necessary, in accordance with personnel and material resources, replace a subject in the list for the mathematics major or the mathematics and informatics major with another subject from the I or II cycle of studies at the Mathematics Department with the appropriate number of ECTS credits.
In addition, the Council of the Department of Mathematics each academic year adopts a list of possible electives for each of the four lists of electives (Electives 1, 2, 3, and 4) for the first three semesters and decides on their implementation in accordance with current personnel and material resources and needs and interests of students.
Students can choose as an optional subject the subject that has not yet been taken as part of the curriculum of the first cycle of studies that the student has completed. If one of the compulsory subjects was passed during the first cycle of studies, the Council of the Department of Mathematics can determine a suitable substitute subject from the list of existing subjects in the first and second cycles of studies of the Department of Mathematics that the student will take and which carries a minimum number of ECTS credits as the subject taken replaces.
Before enrolling in the IV semester, the student, in agreement with the teacher (future final thesis mentor) and with the consent of the Department’s council, decides (in writing) on the topic of the master’s thesis.
